Yesterday morning I woke up realizing we had lots of shopping to do and very little time left to do it in. I got up, had breakfast and Raluca and I headed out. I had plans to hit about six stores in three separate towns to buy gifts and supplies for our festivities.
Within 20 minutes it hit me; tiredness, nausea, dizziness and an extreme desire to go home.
A promising day of holiday shopping was stopped short by sudden Social Fatigue.
Here’s the signs of Social Fatigue:
- You’re dreading to go out even though the places you want to visit sound like fun.
- You start thinking of other things you should be doing maybe a home or at work. “What if” situations constantly pop up in your head.
- All you want to do is go home, curl up in your recliner and watch Netflix for the rest of the day.
- You feel stressed and overwhelmed in your interacting with other people. Nothing seems to recharge you.
Have you experienced this before?
I do have some good news for you: Social Fatigue is temporary and can be prevented. Once you know that it exists and can identify when it’s happening you can react in several ways to control it and even prepare for it before it happens.
We just created a Mini-Course on “Social Fatigue” featuring 10 ways to handle it so you can enjoy your life.
